Tramp & Tumbling Classes

T&T (1-2 Year Olds)

(Adult participation required)

Ratio 6:1 – 45 minutes

Along with introducing specific T&T skills, many fun and different obstacles will be used to challenge your child. We will introduce structure in small increments that they may see at an academic pre-school and prepare them for their next steps of independence. Adults will learn trampoline safety and techniques to participate with their child in safe and fun ways. This class takes place primarily in the main gym.

*All Children must be 1 year old prior to the first day of class

*Any child who turns 3 while enrolled in this class can stay in this class until a spot opens in a 3 year old class

T&T (3 Year Olds)

Ratio 5:1 – 45 minutes

An enthusiastic instructor helps to foster independence by offering fun, yet challenging activities. Parents are invited “as needed”, but our goal is to foster healthy independence as children grow. Students increase their self-confidence, body awareness, strength, and agility, in an exciting and safe gymnastics class that also includes an introduction to the Trampoline & Tumbling discipline of gymnastics. The class takes place primarily in the main gym.

*All Children must be 3 years-old prior to the first day of class

*Any child who turns 4 while enrolled in this class can stay in this class until a spot opens in a 4 year old class

T&T (4 & 5 Year Olds)

Ratio 6:1 – 60 min

This is a co-ed class for boys and girls who are 4 or 5 years old, but not yet in kindergarten. It is the first step in trampoline and tumbling for beginners to those with some basic gymnastics experience. Students will learn fundamental skills for the T&T events (Trampoline, Power Tumbling & Double-Mini Trampoline) on apparatus including trampoline, rod floor and double-mini trampoline as well as tumble tracks building greater overall strength and confidence for continued skill development. They will work on skills including: shape jumps, various drop landings, cartwheels, handstands, backward and forward rolls, connecting skills together, and more!

*All Children must be 4 years-old prior to the first day of class

T&T Kindergarten

60 min

This is a co-ed class for boys and girls who are currently in Kindergarten. It is the first step in trampoline and tumbling for beginners to those with some basic gymnastics experience. Students will learn fundamental skills for the T&T events (Trampoline, Power Tumbling & Double-Mini Trampoline) on apparatus including trampoline, rod floor and double-mini trampoline as well as tumble tracks building greater overall strength and confidence for continued skill development. They will work on skills including: shape jumps, various drop landings, cartwheels, handstands, backward and forward rolls, connecting skills together, and more! The emphasis is on learning safe and proper technique, aerial awareness and confidence. Although flipping may be taught to gymnasts that are ready, it is not a point of emphasis.

Gymnasts generally remain in the grade level program for at least a year or more before acquiring all the skills necessary to advance. Students will be consistently evaluated by their instructor for safety, strength, and skill readiness for the next level.

*Student must be at least 5 years old in order to participate in a Kindergarten class.

T&T 1st Grade

60 min

Trampoline Only 4th Grade & Up

Ratio 8:1 – 45 min

This is a co-ed class for boys and girls with any level of trampoline knowledge and experience. It is designed for those students that want to focus on trampoline skills as this class does not cover tumbling skills. The focus is on learning basic skills to set the trampolinist up for flipping, twisting and combinations. Flipping may be covered, but it is not emphasized. The intermediate level is where flipping skills become more focused on. This class could also be beneficial for freestylers, divers and snowboarders as well as any sport or activity where air-awareness is needed.

Tumbling Only 4th Grade & Up

Ratio 8:1 – 1 hour

This is a co-ed class for boys and girls with any level of tumbling knowledge and experience. It is designed for those students that want to focus on tumbling skills whether to learn their first cartwheel work on multiple back-handspring passes. Students will be able to work on skills according to their current ability as well as be challenged at a pace appropriate to them. This class could also be useful for cheerleading, dance or martial arts tumbling. The trampolines are used, although primarily for shaping and tumbling training purposes.

Upper Level Tramp & Tumbling Classes

T&T Intermediate (Ages 7+ - Evaluation required)

Ratio 8:1 – Intermediate 75 min – Recommended attending class 2x/week.

This class is designed for gymnasts who have mastered basic trampoline & tumbling skills, strength, focus, and personal confidence to begin moving on to more complex skills. In this level, gymnasts will begin preparation for learning more complicated acrobatics on all events, including but not limited to: front and back flipping on trampoline, flips with up to a full-twist, back handsprings, flipping dismounts on double-mini, and will also be introduced to gymnastics specific conditioning.

Gymnasts may expect to remain at this level for a year or more before acquiring all the skills necessary to advance. Students will be consistently evaluated by their instructor for safety, strength, and skill readiness for the next level.

Open Training

Mini Hops Gymnastics offers “Open Training” for athletes who have big gym experience and would like extra time to work on skills mostly independent, but can request assistance from the instructor, if needed.  This is a 90-minute invite only training time to be used by the more serious athletes with specific objectives and skills to train. Open Training is only offered to skill-focused approved athletes in upper-level classes, adult classes and the following teams; Special Olympics, Xcel/DP, Boys, and Tramp & Tumbling team. Upon entering the gym, approved and registered, athletes should check-in with the instructor to review the rules and the apparatus available, as it varies from week to week. Athletes must be able to follow safety protocols set by coaches independently.
