Caring and energetic instructors will teach three styles of dance for the young school-aged mover (ballet, jazz, and hip-hop). Kids enjoy learning basic dance techniques such as balance, posture, and rhythm using fun music and choreography. Dance Acro - Intermediate/Advanced (Invite Only)

THIS IS AN INVITE ONLY CLASS – MUST BE INVITED BY A COACH

90 minutes of tumbling progression that are specifically geared towards tumbling, tricking, and acrobatic stunting. The athletes work on skills, drills, and strength exercises that help them build the strength, muscle memory and total body coordination needed to learn skills like tumbling passes, free-handed skills, contortion and acrobatic stunting.  Athletes will be challenged based on their progressions.  Skill progressions will be tracked by their coach to be shared as needed. Since an hour and a half once per week is not enough time to build the strength necessary for certain skills that require a lot of upper body and torso strength, we recommend multiple classes as well as participating in manageable conditioning assignments for them to do at home.

Performance Team

About the Performance Team
The Mini Hops Performance Team is a co-ed program that focuses on theater, dance, and circus arts. Throughout the season, athletes perform within the community, participate in two annual productions, and perform in two showcases.  One of the unique aspects of our program is that Performance Team athletes have opportunities to mentor younger performers by assisting with choreography, teaching routines, and taking on leadership roles during our recreational showcases.

How Athletes Are Evaluated
Our Performance Team is unique because it combines dance, theater, and circus arts. Rather than focusing on just one discipline, we evaluate athletes in all three areas to identify their overall performance potential.
Each category is scored individually and then averaged to determine an athlete’s overall placement. This process also helps us identify areas where additional training may be beneficial.
Following auditions, we will recommend the path that best supports each athlete’s growth. This may include:
  • Placement on the Performance Team
  • Placement on the Pre-Production Team
  • Recommended recreational classes to help prepare for future auditions
Every audition provides valuable feedback and an opportunity for athletes to continue developing their skills.
Audition Performance Categories

  • Ballet technique
  • Jazz/Funk
  • Routine memorization
Theater
  • Public speaking
  • Acting
  • Vocal performance (spoken word or singing)

Athlete placement will be determined by their overall audition score and individual strengths demonstrated during the evaluation.  Performance Team auditions are held twice each year, as needed.  We would love to see your athlete at auditions!
