Boys Progressive Classes

Boys Kindergarten Class

60 min.

In this class, kindergarten boys will learn fundamental gymnastics skills on traditional boys’ apparatuses, including the floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. They will work on skills such as pullovers, forward rolls, handstand and cartwheel variations, bridges and bridge kick-overs, swinging and circling movements on bars, and position swings on parallel bars and rings.

Each class is designed to support boys with varying levels of experience, from those brand new to gymnastics to those who are beginning to master basic skills. Our coaches are skilled in teaching progressions and work with each gymnast to achieve their personal best while also building confidence, independence, problem-solving, persistence, and a positive self-image. Gymnasts often remain at this level for a few years before advancing, and instructors consistently evaluate them for strength, safety, and readiness for the next level.

*Student must be at least 5 years old and in Kindergarten (going into Kindergarten during summer) in order to participate in a Kindergarten class.

Boys 1st Grade Class

60 min.

First-grade boys in this class will learn beginning-level gymnastics skills on boys’ apparatuses, including the floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. They will develop fundamental skills like pullovers, forward rolls, handstand and cartwheel variations, bridges and bridge kick-overs, swinging and circling movements on bars, and position swings on parallel bars and rings.

Our school-age classes are perfect for children with little or no gymnastics experience as well as those starting to master foundational skills. Coaches are experienced in skill progressions and work with all gymnasts at their individual levels, helping them grow in confidence, independence, problem-solving, persistence, and positive self-esteem. Gymnasts often remain at this level for a few years before advancing, and instructors consistently evaluate them for strength, safety, and readiness for the next level.

 

 

Boys 2nd-3rd Grade Class

60 min.

This class is designed for boys in 2nd and 3rd grades who are learning basic gymnastics on traditional boys’ apparatuses. Athletes will practice skills on the floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar, focusing on pullovers, straight-arm rolls, handstand and cartwheel variations, bridges and bridge kick-overs, swinging and circling skills, and position swings on bars and rings.

Each class supports boys at various experience levels, from beginners to those progressing in foundational skills. Our knowledgeable coaches help gymnasts develop their abilities, all while promoting confidence, independence, problem-solving, persistence, and a strong self-image. Gymnasts often remain at this level for a few years before advancing, and instructors consistently evaluate them for strength, safety, and readiness for the next level.

 

 

Boys 4th Grade & Up Class

Boys in 4th grade and above will learn foundational skills on boys’ gymnastics apparatuses, including the floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar. They’ll focus on basic skill development with movements like pullovers, straight-arm rolls, handstand and cartwheel variations, bridges and bridge kick-overs, swinging and circling elements on bars, and position swings on parallel bars and rings.

Classes are designed for boys at all experience levels, from those new to gymnastics to those starting to master core skills. Coaches are experienced in skill progressions and work closely with each athlete to foster confidence, independence, problem-solving, persistence, and a positive self-image. Gymnasts often remain at this level for a few years before advancing, and instructors consistently evaluate them for strength, safety, and readiness for the next level.

Ninja Kindergarten Class

60 min.
This class is for boys and girls who are above 5 years of age and in Kindergarten class. Learning jump, flips, kicks in sequence “Ninja” Tumbling skills.

*Student must be at least 5 years old in order to participate in a Kindergarten class.

 

Boys Freestyle 1st-5th Grade Class

This Freestyle Gymnastics class is perfect for boys ages 6 and up, from 1st to 5th grade, who are ready to bring their unique moves and build new skills! Combining elements from parkour, free running, tricking, cross-training, and ninja moves, this class offers a safe training environment to explore and expand each student’s personal skill set. Boys can focus on the skills that excite them most, guided by our supportive and experienced coaches, and will leave each class more confident and capable.

Boys Freestyle 6th-12th Grade Class

Advanced freestyle training with more freedom! In this class, boys in 6th through 12th grade will work on advanced tumbling skills, trampoline techniques, block jumps, and more. Perfect for “trickers,” snowboarders, and former gymnasts alike, the class begins with a group warm-up and stretching session, then shifts to independent practice where athletes can choose their focus. With guidance available from our expert coaches, athletes are empowered to work at their own pace and pursue personal goals. Each session wraps up with group conditioning, creating a strong sense of community and fitness in a supportive environment.

Boys Strength for All Sports Class (1st Grade & Up)

This strength-building class is designed for boys ages 6 and up (1st–7th grade) who want to enhance their full-body strength in a gymnastics environment. Athletes will work on a blend of gymnastics-based strength moves, like holds on still rings, and general fitness exercises. They’ll have ample opportunity for repetitions, and each lesson plan is consistent yet adaptable to meet each student’s needs. Coaches encourage young athletes to challenge themselves, helping them hold a little longer, complete an extra push-up, or perfect their squat form.

Over time, this training builds confidence and prepares athletes to excel in their favorite sports—or to become even stronger gymnasts! This class is ideal for athletes interested in cross-training or building a strong foundation in athletic conditioning.

All Events Gymnastics (1st Grade & Up)

At Mini-Hops Gymnastics, we are dedicated to fostering the development of each child. Our All Events Gymnastics Program provides lifelong fitness skills for school-age children who are eager to learn. In this class, each event is taught in its traditional form—rings as boys typically learn them and beam as girls do—regardless of the athlete’s gender. This inclusive approach ensures every child gains confidence, strength, and versatility across a variety of gymnastics disciplines.

Gymnastics Strength for All Sports Class (6th Grade & Up)

Ratio 9:1 – 60 min.This class caters to both boys and girls enrolled in Middle School and High School (6th grade and up). Participants will focus on enhancing overall body strength within a gymnastics-oriented setting. While some exercises may be connected to gymnastics skills, such as holding still rings, the emphasis is on repetitive movements. The lesson plan remains consistent but can be adjusted to cater to individual needs in every class.

Athletes will be challenged to extend their holds, perform additional push-ups and execute squats with optimal form. This training aims to enhance their comfort and proficiency in their preferred sport or introduce them to new activities. Could be combined with a level class.

Boys Upper Level Classes

Boys Intermediate and Advanced

90 min.
This is a by evaluation class designed for gymnasts who have mastered basic gymnastics, strength, focus, and personal confidence to begin moving on to more complex gymnastics skills. Each level has an ability appropriate skill-based curriculum designed to build upon the skills learned and mastered in the previous level. Due to the progressive nature of the program coaches will evaluate for mobility to the next level. Students may remain in a level for up to a full year or more before acquiring all of the skills necessary to advance.  In Intermediates students will be working towards handstand forward rolls and dive rolls on floor, upgraded swing and circle progressions on parallel bars, high bar, and mushroom, and front handsprings on vault. Advanced students work toward front and back handsprings on floor; kips, front tucks, tap swings, parallel bar swings, circles on mushroom and much more! 
Attendance 2 times a week is highly recommended at this level. Combining with non-invitational classes, like boys strength for all sports, freestyle’s offering, open training or open gym is a great way to build the strength and flexibility required to attain higher level skills.  

Open Training

Mini Hops Gymnastics offers “Open Training” for athletes who have big gym experience and would like extra time to work on skills mostly independent, but can request assistance from the instructor, if needed.  This is a 90-minute invite only training time to be used by the more serious athletes with specific objectives and skills to train. Open Training is only offered to skill-focused approved athletes in upper-level classes, adult classes and the following teams; Special Olympics, Xcel/DP, Boys, and Tramp & Tumbling team. Upon entering the gym, approved and registered, athletes should check-in with the instructor to review the rules and the apparatus available, as it varies from week to week. Athletes must be able to follow safety protocols set by coaches independently.
