50 Years of Making an Impact at Mini Hops

In 1976, Minnetonka Community Services and Minnetonka-Hopkins Recreation Department came together to form the Minnetonka-Hopkins Gymnastic Association, otherwise known as Mini Hops Gymnastics.

Classes began on September 13, 1976 and were held in the area school districts. A kickoff potluck was held on September 25, 1976 to celebrate!

Mini Hops moved to our first location that was all our own on Williston Road in Minnetonka. This building was roughly 12,000 square feet and held our 600 athletes. We were at this location until we moved to our new home in 2004.

In 2001, the Mini Hops Scholarship program began. This program has helped fund countless gymnasts throughout the years.

Mini Hops moved to our second location in the Carlson Business Center in Minnetonka. This building was approximately 18,600 square feet and held up to 1200 athletes. We were at this location until we moved to our current home in 2015.

In 2015, Mini Hops got a fresh new look, retiring our old logo and the colors of purple and teal for our current blue and orange.

Mini Hops arrived at our current home here in Plymouth! Our 48,000 square feet of gym includes a dedicated space for a dance studio, an academic preschool and a separate gym for children five years and under. Our main gym area includes four in ground trampolines, five in ground pits, and space for our nearly 1,800 athletes each week in our over 300 classes and over 30 teams.

That brings us to today! Mini Hops has made moves in the past 50 years, making an impact on all who pass through these doors.
