Gymnastics is a challenging, rewarding, and fun sport for kids of all ages and abilities. Whether you are looking to train the next Olympic Athlete, learn new skills to keep your kiddo safe on the playground, or build social and cognitive skills, gymnastics is the perfect sport for you. Check out our tips on how to get the most of your Mini-Hops experience.
Preparation is the name of the game. We recommend showing up 10 minutes early to get acquainted with our space and have our customer service staff give you a tour of the facility. Once you’ve settled in, it’s time to get your athlete prepared for class. Comfy clothes are essential. Girls can wear a leotard (check out our Pro Shop to purchase your first one); otherwise, all boys and girls can wear a pair of shorts and a t-shirt that is easy to move around in. Kiddos with longer hair will need to pull it back in a ponytail. Don’t have a hair binder? No worries, our front desk has you covered! Last but not least, make sure to have everyone participating in class make a trip to the bathroom beforehand to ensure they don’t miss any critical skills during class.
Safety is an essential part of gymnastics, and we here at Mini-Hops pride ourselves on making it a part of every lesson. The beginning of each class will start with the instructor going over safety techniques for what the athletes will be working on that day, making sure everyone is aware of their surroundings and knows how to use the equipment properly. We ask parents to remind their athletes to be an active listener during class, making sure everyone has a safe and fun time.
Communication is key, especially between the gymnastics instructor and parent. After each class ends, the instructor will walk the kids out into the lobby and meet briefly with each parent. This communication is vital and is the perfect chance to go over any concerns you might have. Instructors are always willing to talk through the daily rotations and explain the importance each one plays in the bigger picture of progressing through the gymnastics skills.
Preparation, safety, and communication all lead to one of the best reasons to come to class, to have fun! Learning a new skill, landing your first flip, or even just jumping on the trampoline, can make any kid’s day. The lesson plans here at Mini-Hops are structured to make sure everyone has a fun and safe time. Are you ready to have fun? Stop into Mini-Hops Gymnastics today to try your first class for free!
